Shaklee vs MonaVie™ My ExperienceSuperfruits & Resveratrol
Shaklee vs MonaVie™ My Experience, Notes, and Impressions I have always been health conscience and believe you can not get everything you need in today's diet. Who eats 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day? After taking Shaklee food supplements for many years, I was open minded about attending a MonaVie™ party. They featured a superfruit juice with many fruits, particularly the juice from the acai fruit found in Brazil. I heard that the acai berry has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and Shaklee didn't have acai in any of their products that I was aware of. Today there is a quite a buzz about resveratrol research as well. Shaklee does have resveratrol in a couple of their products. John and I were the curious duo and this is our story.... Below are the notes from our experience. 1. I didn't mind the taste of the MonaVie™ juices, but my boyfriend gagged on it. 2. We found it interesting that a portion of the Brazilian forest is being preserved in order to harvest the acai berry which is an important ingredient of the MonaVie™ products. 3. We were annoyed when we were told the juice could make us gassy AFTER we drank it! We had a dinner party to go to later that day! Ha. Oh, well. Luckily, we didn't have THAT problem later. 4. The MonaVie™ party we attended went on for 3 hours! If our friends were in charge, I know they would have been more considerate of their guests' time. My friends were not allowed to lead the meeting because they had not achieved the management level to do so at that time. My friends believe in the product, doing well, and on their way to being business leaders. 5. After drinking 2 oz of Mona Vie™ for 3 days, I broke out in hives. Was it it the acai berry or some other fruit in the mix? I happen to have problems with sulfates and sulfites, but Monavie™ contains other preservatives. 6. Their superfruit juice doesn't contain sulfites, but does contain the preservatives, sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid. Even though sodium benzoate can occur naturally, it makes the product considered "not natural" and sodium benzoate is a common allergen in sensitive people. 7. It was mentioned in the meeting that the juice must be consumed quickly as spoilage is a problem. The juice basically turns into benzene due to the reaction of acorbic acid, the presence of trace amounts of certain metals, and sodium benzoate. Supposedly, the benzene is well below the FDA's acceptance levels. 8. MonaVie™ people can make a ton of money. Anyway, I gave this product a try. MonaVie™ seems to help a lot of people and I am not downing the product. A couple of months after this MonaVie™ party, Shaklee introduced a product, Vivix™. Vivix™ is packed with resveratrol and polyphenols, tastes much better, contains no preservatives, and you only take one teaspoon a day. Instead of the acai super fruit, Shaklee discovered another super fruit, Vitis rotundifolia, which is very rich in resveratrol. Shaklee's Vivix protects and repairs DNA and is easy on the digestive system. Unlike MonaVie Active™, Shaklee spent many years of scientific research and has a patent pending. Ummm...I'm sticking with Vivix™.

I love to hear from visitors but recently received a critical e-mail I would like to address. I guess the MonaVie Active®, Vivix™, XanGo® Juice, and TAHITIAN NONI® Juice comparison chart above really hit a nerve. These issues were brought to light: 1. The writer said I am downing MonaVie™ by not providing 100% correct information, that in fact, the acai berry is the world’s number one superfood. MonaVie™ also has a patent pending freeze-drying process. 2. She says I shouldn’t compare MonaVie™ with my Shaklee product because MonaVie™ doesn’t do that to other companies. Here is my response: First, there is very little information “out there” comparing these products and including the resveratrol connection. I had a story to tell and people are finding my site because they are searching those terms. I also have to admit to neglecting in keeping up with MonaVie™ developments. Where is the supporting scientific evidence that the acai berry is the number one superfruit? Maybe it is the resveratrol packed Vitis rotundifolia grape or the goji berry? Maybe we are trying to compare apples and oranges - sorta' speak? They are all super! Secondly, you are right! I would be very surprised if Shaklee is mentioned at the MonaVie™ website or mentioned in their meetings! The same is true of Shaklee not focusing on MonaVie™ or other products. Shaklee has a huge website and the Shaklee Corporation is very focused on what Shaklee is doing! It took me a long time to find the comparison chart above. There are links to clinical studies, in-depth information for each product, training presentations, etc. It is all about Shaklee there! I am not the Shaklee company but an INDEPENDENT Shaklee distributor with a story and a preference. Thank you for your comments! Junette
