Regarding Allergies / The Katrina Greene Story
MY SHAKLEE STORYI was introduced to Shaklee in 1987 by a wonderful woman named June Dykstra with Ecology Enterprises. There was an ad in the newspaper for an amazing opportunity so I thought I would give it a shot. Being the skeptic that I was, I was very hesitant at first, but as the presentation proceeded I realized that maybe she was on to something: better health. She was right on the money and it happened to be one of the best things that has ever happened to me. You see I was very “sick” when I met her. Actually I didn’t realize how “sick” I was until I wasn’t “sick” any more. I was allergic to many foods such as strawberries, potatoes and chicken. Even if I touched them raw it would make me have an allergy attack. It’s pretty crazy having to wear rubber gloves to handle a lot of foods that people have no problem with. I was also allergic to certain trees, plants, grasses, etc. Therefore I had to take allergy medicine every day, all day. It helped relieve me for a while, but then my body got used to the medicine I was taking so I had to switch brands often so I could get some relief. I also got relief from my nasal spray but then I became addicted to it when I could no longer sleep at night without it. I was so bad with the nasal spray that if I left the house without it, I would have to go back and get it. Even though I was on medicine and nasal spray around the clock I still had to wear one of those white medical masks during the spring and fall just so I could function. Not only did I have all my allergies, at least twice a year I would come down with pneumonia, bronchitis, the flu or a cold. The pneumonia shot got rid of the pneumonia but then I still had all the other. Even though I took non-drowsy medicines, I still needed a nap every day, sometimes for hours. The weird part about it all is that I thought that this was normal. No it isn’t normal. Being sick is not normal! June told me that first and I thought that can’t be! After much hesitance I thought why not give it a try. I did. Within the first month being on the Basics I felt a difference in my overall being. After that I would gradually add in other supplements. One of those contained iron. I was actually allergic to the over-the-counter kind, which made it tough for me since I was always being diagnosed as borderline anemic. Finally I could take iron! As the months went by I noticed that I was getting better and better and more energetic. I kept cutting down on the medicine and nose spray until I didn’t need it any more. One of my most memorable moments was the day when I drove off and forgot my nose spray. I thought of going back at first and getting it out of habit, but then something told me that I didn’t need it. I didn’t and haven’t needed it since. Freedom at last! It was so exhilarating, kind of like finishing first in a marathon without actually being in one physically. As time went on the bronchitis, flu and colds were less and less frequent and less severe until it got to the point of being virtually nonexistent. I think it was two years ago since I had my last cold, and the one before that was five years before that. I am now actually shocked when I get sick. Imagine that! Even how I view commercials and ads for allergy medicines and the like have changed. I used to be oh I need that one now. Now I think that I am fortunate that I no longer need that. Fortunate indeed!
